Daryl K. Roberts
Chief of the Hartford Police Department (Quest Class of ‘06)

Chief Daryl K. Roberts, who was sworn in as Hartford's Twenty-First Police Chief on July 12, 2006, has commanded every major division of the Department in a law enforcement career spanning more than twenty-four years. In 1998, six years after graduating from the Hartford Police Department Training Academy, Daryl was promoted to detective and then to sergeant of the Vice and Narcotics Unit. In 1994, he served with the Crimes Against Persons and Major Crimes Divisions where he supervised detectives in the investigations of sexual assaults, homicides, kidnappings, rapes, forgeries, robberies and burglaries.




John Nelson
Retired teacher and active community volunteer (Third Age Initiative Class of ‘06)

John Nelson is a near life-long resident of New England. Except for the two years he spent in Sierra Leone as a Peace Corps volunteer and a year in England earning a Masters Degree from the University of Sussex, John has lived in Greater Hartford.

Israel Flores
Senior Underwriter for United Healthcare
(Common Ground Class of ‘89)

A graduate of Hartford Public High School, Israel is also a graduate of Leadership Greater Hartford’s Common Ground program. Inspired by his teachers and the students he met through Common Ground, Israel excelled academically to expand his educational opportunities after graduation. While studying at Yale University, Israel further developed his leadership skills by enrolling in INROADS professional training and development workshops. He was also a member of the Psi Chi National Honor Society in Psychology and earned the Julia de Burgos Student Leadership Award before graduating from Yale in 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics &
Psychology.
